For the story, Hawaiian guitar was very, very popular in France in the 30s, lots of Hawaiian artists went there and created a phenomena. The parisian artists learned to play the Hawaiian style, and mixed french singing with hawaiian story. This compilation is really great, with a nice cover by the french adopted Robert Crumb. My only problem with it is that Cyril Lefebvbre, who collaborated on collecting the album, put a cover of a ukulele method on it that is from my collection, without telling me, and without thanking me... Anyway, if you can get the album, it's really unusual, and great.
