I lived at the other end of Mid-Pac golf course when I was a kid and used to swim all the time at Kailua and Lanikai beaches. We also used to hike on top of the mountain above Lanikai to play in the old WWII pill boxes. Wild guava and mango grew up there, so we used to eat those when they were ripe. Good times.
