the ones to investigate "crooked local cops".

Anyway, I sympathize with the Mermen a bit as I have had similar
experiences, although not on quite the same scale or that would
affect my livelyhood to the extent that this theft surely did.

I hope they have recovered much of their equipment and that the
person(s) responsible for the theft and subsequent resale of the
stolen equipment have been arrested, tried and convicted and that
the local police there are no more.
