Another great use for the crappy Party Store/ Big Lots stuff, is to buy in bulk and create things WITH those cheap things as craft supplies.
I'm currently using a $4. bamboo garden edging and cheap resin tikis(from The Christmas Tree Shop) to augment the front of an outdoor tiki bar I'm constructing.

I may be using parts of those plastic table cloths (stapled to plywood)as background for home made tiki mask outdoor wall hangings. They'll more easily stand the New England weather, and if they don't, I'll just buy more for next Summer, they're cheap!

So "Party City" (I think our version here is called "IParty") is a necesary part of my Tiki Lifestyle. And as I create new things with this stuff, it pushes me further toward working with the real stuff, wood, stone, and my dream of someday making velvet paintings.

I love that Tiki Central tells me what's available where!
