You'd only need a couple screws to mount the plywood to the wall. If your Landlord has a problem with the flamability of the thatch you can apply flame retardant before mounting it.

Hi'ya DaisyJen! If you can't tack thatch to the walls maybe you could glue it to thin plywood & attach that to the wall? You'd only need a couple screws to mount the plywood to the wall.
