He always told us that it was 'the god of fertility', hence, the lyrics..... My father's name was Arden Clar. ... he always said that it was the voodoo god of fertility. And there does exist an album called 'Voodoo'. Did you ever hear his rendition of Similau on the piano? Very, very beautful. Melodic and melancholy. He was a wonderful pianist.
