A drink being similar is not proof of any drink lineage. Gary Regans book is an over simplification, and a lot of wishful thinking. When several bartenders create similar drinks it is usually a simple case of convergence, but when one bartender creates similar drinks it usually means they like the combination and will keep trying it with whatever ingredients are available.
