Congratulations to you, Chongolio, for making this bold move! It sounds like this is a great time in your life to make such a dramatic change, and with your positive, can-do attitude and your easy-going demeanor, I bet it's all going to work out just fine for you.

I've mentioned a couple times before what our experience was like, living in Hawaii. I was so little that it was all fantastic from my point of view, but it was harder for my parents (hence, our moving back stateside). I was pulled out of a public school after about a week for reasons similar to what WenikiTiki described with her younger son. This was all 25+ years ago, but it sounds like many of the same issues my family faced remain.

Mjj, I can't help but notice that you are concerned about people in Hawaii judging you by the color of your skin, and yet you casually slam "white girls." I don't think that approach is going to work well for you anywhere, Hawaii or on the Mainland (or, on Tiki Central, for that matter). If you want others to approach you with an open mind, you'll have an easier time if yours is open, too, rather than judging before knowing.
