It may sound cheap, but the wood is plain pine and the tools where two or three xacto knives.
Loads of sandingpaper too...
For the color two coats of mahogany stain, one darkbrown varnish wash and a coat of ship's varnish to seal him.

Tropical hardwoods are fairly hard to come by around here if you're not in the trade.

Btw, his lips meet at the back...
