Aloha Duddy! If you want to trace a design to save time and to keep things symmetrical, you could use a product called a transfer pen, made EZ Crafts found at most craft stores
You might want to leave an extra 1/8" or so of bone around your drawing , depending on thickness, so you can round off your corners/edges up to your drawing line. I've made some bone hooks in the past and found out the hard way...finished product looking too skinny/thin when looking head on.You'll figure out how much you need as you gain more experience.
