I've had my mug designs ripped (particularly Tiki Farm's Warrior) on beach towels, boogie boards, stickers, etc. 3-D became 2-d and got stylized and distorted.
These bastards even ripped it for a mug.

Oh and just to keep the waters stirred a bit... An artist being dead or a business being closed has absolutely no bearing on whether or not the copyright is in force. Copyrights can be renewed and transferred. All my copyrights transfer to my estate when I die. If someone rips me off when I'm takin' a dirt nap, they're ripping off my wife and kids.
