My dad was stationed at Sangley Point U.S. Naval Base in the Phillippines back in 1965-6, and we had nothing but bamboo and tiki/tropical furniture and decor, and I've loved it ever since. Sadly, when we moved back to the US in 1966, my parents left almost all of the tropical stuff behind. :( I wish I had that stuff now! I've always loved tiki/tropical theme decorating, and have been meaning to do it for years in my own place. I am just finally getting around to it now, better late than never, I guess, lol. Anyway, I'm glad to find this forum, tiki things bring back such fond memories of my childhood for me. That was the only time in my life I've lived in a place with no snow in the winter. I hate winter! I guess if I had the money, I would consider moving someplace warmer, maybe South Carolina or Florida if in the US. My Uncle lives by Lake Okechobee in Florida, but I've never visited him. If I moved outside the US, I'd probably consider Guam.
