I'm in the works of trying to build myself a tiki bar out of bamboo. I would like to build something in this style (http://www.bambootropical.com/webfiles/webphoto/bars/barwithstoollg.jpg) but I cannot for the life of me figure out how they attach the smaller bamboo to the frame.

I'm going to be using bamboo from my back yard that I'm cutting myself, and I'm using this website as a model for the bar http://blog.humuhumu.com/2006/09/05/how-to-build-a-tiki-bar, but I don't want to use what they call a bamboo mat to cover the sides, I'd prefer to use bamboo "rods" if you will. If somebody could give me ideas as to how I can attach the rods virtically I would appreciate it. The frame is going to be held together, I think, mostly with some type of rope or string.
