In Germany, you put down a deposit for large beer glasses and bottles no matter where you are.

Example- at one place you would order a wheat beer and of course it comes in a wheat beer glass which is quite large and very tempting for the inebriated, potential thief. So when you order you must pay a deposit fee (Pfand) and you get a token. When done, you turn in the token and get your depost back.

Even at parties where beer is served in bottles, you had to pay a deposit which you got back upon returning the bottle.

They do it for shopping carts as well. Insures that people will return them to their proper place.

Perhaps a similiar scheme with Tiki mugs?
