You can also mix a mahogany stain with a bit of ebony for a darker look. Try the multiple coats of 225 and then, after it is dry, apply multiple coats of Watco rejuenating oil. Keep it dust free, and it will look crazy nice. You can also re-apply the oil several times a year to treat the wood (after cleaning all dust off).
