The Italian millefiori technique named for "a thousand flowers" involves the production of glass canes or rods, known as murrine, with multicolored patterns which are viewable only from the cut ends of the cane. Thin slices of cut cane (murrine) are pressed into the bead surface, forming mosaic-like patterns, while the glass is still hot. Now that you know all the insane work it takes to make a tiny millefiori, I'm sure your can imagine what goes into all the other features of these playful irresistable beads and pendants. BTW I sold the cute purple puffer pendant yesterday so try to ignore it as a potential stocking stuffer, but I'm sure Bodhiboy will make me some more next year! Hot stuff!! Glassblowers dig the heat. Why do you think they're all tan?
