I feel this is getting silly. The Mai Kai is one of the few meccas of tiki with the whole package that are left, its hanging on the best it can in a region with fierce competition for visitors attention - AND SOME ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT GOING HOME WITH A MUG???? Isn't this a bit short sighted? No offense, but I thought getting ones drink in a mug was suppose to be the icing on the cake, not a staple. In Tiki Road Trip, Sven K comments "Humility in the face of rarity of the few remaining temples is a good attitude." AND "If the cocktails are good and they play exotic mood music, even better." [page 9] Its so easy to complain about not getting what we want when we are not running the biz. Hey, remember that the Mai Kai was recently & fortunately sold with the family and not to a greedy developer? Yes, I'm exasperated that a few of us have firm belief that the Mai Kai is obligated to mugs for their customers at all times. Not gonna hide that. Its a mug. A ceramic vessel that holds a drink. Unless the gripy lamenters have the means to make the boat come faster, or are willing to pony up bucks to get all those precious ceramic vessels there by your next visit, OR CAN RESTOCK THE GIFT SHOP WITH EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO SEE, please sit your rear down and deal.
