I like it Swanky!!

I think I still have a roll of thatch left over from the Lono rebuild, so that saves some $$ right there. How would you strap it together? Wire ties or something?

I think it'll need more than one roll through. at 3' tall, with a 1' overlap to tie, and 15' long (plus the sides)

Of course, all I really need to cover is the front & sides. Maybe I could just drape it over the top & hang weights down the back to hold it in place?

And I think I can use some of Granite's ideas as well. A nice thick rope (you can get tons of used marine rope cheap, and its all weathered & cool looking) to hide the "beams" under the tent.

Come spring, I'll have to do some experiments.

ANy other ideas?
