Excellent comments. It's always rewarding to see different viewpoints, even pointed disputes, stay totally civil and sharing-oriented. My personal opinion is that ethnic Hawaiians who wish to advance the well-being of people who share their ethnic characteristics should run as fast as possible away from schemes that aim to create differential treatments of/for them in the realms of politics, law, taxation, social welfare policies, etc., for down that road lie weakness, insularity, and resentment.
