Here are some better light pictures of this guy:

It was windy enough to knock him down flat on his face while I was photoing, so he has some dust on him in these next pictures

Just have to dust him off and seal him now

I finished sanding the knife and stained it this weekend:

I think the wood is walnut. I stained the handle with special walnut. I figured, "How could I go wrong with walnut on walnut?" I stained the other part of the handle with golden oak. I wanted it to look like brass

Freshly sanded, the blade was way to bright. I did a test on the same wood type and figured using just poly would work just fine

Here it is with a couple coats of shellac:

In other Tiki news:
Guest artist day featuring Buzzard happened over the weekend.

He learned that there is no other planer better suited for the job than the Ryobi planer. I learned that I was out of dust masks...

For those of you who were busy this weekend:

It's that time of year again! The San Diego Crew Classic!!!!

When I first saw the tents, I got scared that they had PIFA and didn't tell me.

The start of the big race...

the winner took a commanding lead!

Congrats to all the participants of this fine event.

Buzzy! I got a fat chunk of Mahogany... I'll show it to you on Monday.

Billy: You got me the first time you tried your "Hey, check out my mahogany log" line. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice,....

I haven't really talked about how great my Ryobi planer is in a while.
It's great!
Buzzy Out!
