I made my bar quite a lot taller so its comfortable to lean on while standing or sitting, as high as a commercial pub or club bar, see pics:

Also all the bamboo used was pulled from bushland near my house and cut down the centre with a circular saw, I used screws to fix it to the walls and ceiling as the big stuf can get heavy especially with all that matting above it..
I would also like to offer further to Bamboo Ben's motto of "no white walls" to include no painted walls at all, the effect is so much more striking when using matting or other "exotic materials" that it really pays to show no clue of what structure hides underneath... Just a thought..
