With a little more follow-through, I think you might be able to construct a workable insult in there somewhere. But without being more specific about who you're referring to, I can't figure out what the heck your point is.

Are you saying JT's talent lies exclusively in promoting himself? Exclusively in promoting his book? Are you talking about someone else?

JT's post has some of the most tiki-related substance in this whole thread. Therefore, you must have loved reading it, because you love reading posts with something of substance to contribute. Right?

Are you specifically saying someone on this list (maybe Kailuageoff) needs James' website to tell them what to think or what is cool? Do you have any favorite websites? If so, I guess you visit them because you need someone to tell you what to think?

This all sounds absurd to me. I'm curious how you see creative people making a living or even a minimal return on their work without promotion. I'm also curious why you think talking about a tiki related book or article on a tiki website is shameless self-promotion, as opposed to on-topic discussion, especially when many members specifically say they enjoy hearing about it!
