I

I came across a future screening for the 1927 Clara Bow Hula/Hawaiian film, which may be of interest to those of you in California.

For the 21st consecutive year, The Silent Society of Hollywood Heritage, in association with the National Parks Service will be presenting its "Silents Under the Stars" series. The series is a screening of some of Hollywood's best silent films in the wonderful outdoor setting of the Paramount Movie Ranch in Agoura. The film is shown to live music accompaniment.

Here is a description of the film, as posted by tikibars here on TC 5 years ago, when the film was shown in Chicago

  • "Hula" starring Clara Bow (It), one of the snappiest ingenues of the Roaring 20s. This 1927 adaptation of Armene von Tempski's novel is subtitled A Romance of Hawaii. She's the daughter of a pineapple plantation owner who meets a married engineer from England who catches her fancy. Victor Fleming (Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz) directed. Bow crushed more leading men than any other woman in Hollywood, and appears in a surprising nude scene in the film. *
