Hehe... I jest about the snobbery thing. It takes a certain amount of elitism to keep tiki alive, and no one wants to see a watered-down mainstream 'revival'.

I think Jason Wickedly got it right about the macho culture we have now. People are too homophobic to try a cocktail with fruit or wear a flowered shirt, which is really sad. I think lots of us approach it from the hod rodder angle so we're never far from tough-guy stuff. (I love hot rod kulture too)
