OH YEAH! THEY DO!

I come to Tiki looking for a way to expand my knowledge of circa 3rd to 13th century pre-Christian Scandinavian Art forms. Specifically, a way to expand on those art forms in a more public way. Tiki seems to be specifically designed for it.

The Vikings may have left the worlds largest culture of permanent graffiti. Unfortunately, wood is easier to work with than stone. The Key for me, is how do I release the Nordic pantheon from wood, along with their giants and monsters and the unseen little people of the woods. Lono and Ku and the others hold no cultural basis for me.

Since working with wood is pretty spiritual for me, to be traditional would be to put less into the project than I should (an insult to those deities). I prefer to take elements of artisanship and translate to something I feel more affinity for. Holding to tradition for the sake of tradition with no soul is not respectful. Acknowledging tradition while using it to inspire is properly respectful.
