I was in Melbourne a couple of years ago and was met with tons of flies starting at the airport...my friend just waved them away from his face and said...that's the "Aussie Wave" since there are flies everywhere. I toured all over Melbourne with the flies. I didn't go north, but 3 of my friends went up to Ayers Rock and the Reef and they had to buy hats with face netting to keep the flies off. You would think they would get wiped out in the annual fires...but they don't. Can we send ya some fly-strips? :D Had a great visit to Australia though...everyone was so friendly!!!
