I didn't see this post previously and it is a good one to go through. That is totally The Hawaii Kai menu posted to the wall in the kitchen! Very cool shot!! That is something that most likely would not have been there if it was not the Hawaii Kai.

The following pictures are off a postcard I have and I didn't see them posted here in this thread so I thought they would go good here. I am assuming (without looking) these are under the 'Locating Tiki' section for the Hawaii Kai but I think they deserve to be here as well!

This first picture is one of the outside showing the sign and the entrance area, which might I add, sure was pretty grand looking!

The next photo is of the Okole Maluna Bar with Diamond Head Diorama. "Scenes From Dawn to Dusk in Realistically Colorful Settings".

It is hard to make out in this picture, but there is what looks to be the original Hawaii Kai mugs under the shelf on the right of this photo, under the bottles, behind the bar. Looks like the shape of the Tiki mug and also the Hula Girl mugs. I imagine that the specific Hawaii Kai mugs, once all sold out over the years (say 1980's) or not re-ordered anymore, were later replaced with the generic Orchid of Hawaii mugs as posted earlier by Ukulelebaby.

It would be interesting to try to find out if the Jard Manufactured ones are older then the mugs produced by OMC or if they were both used at the same time or Jard later. The photos previously posted by Ukulelebaby show two (Handled Tiki And Hula Girl) of the Jard manufactured ones on the right side of table along with just regular glass S&P's. I have not seen any photos with the Moai S&P's.

In the shot from the movie with Deniro, the mug looks like the side/rear of the Jard made Tiki mugs but I can't be sure. There is also only the glass S&P's used. Just curious to see if we can try to figure out a time line for the mugs. I find what looks to be a quickly made table lamp interesting. If this was in fact the Hawaii Kai, which I think it is, why wouldn't they use one of the original lamps?? Maybe the original ones didn't give the right look or enough light for the movie?? Don't know.

I guess one more thing about the mug dates would be the next image. It is an ad for the Hawaii Kai (from Sven, BOT) with the famous Hawaii Kai Wahine Mug. There is a picture of the mug which we know is made by OMC and in the text is the old phone number which was PL 7-0900. If someone knows when NY changed their prefixes then that would help with this one a bit!

The next picture is of The Lounge of the Seven Pleasures which "Features Authentic Native Entertainment". This is where the stage and band was.

The following photo is of (if Goodfellas was for sure filmed here, this is that room) The Island Huts of Oahu. "Here Royal pleasures await you. Sumptous Delicacies Served By Our Native Food Bearers."

This is a different angle and you can see the huts on the left hand side and the darker bamboo partitions between them. Also note the table in the foreground. I do not see any of the Hawaii Kai Moai salt and pepper shakers on the table but I do see those copper/brass table lamps which you can see in alot of the early Tiki Restaurants. These photos are probably quite early in the restaurants life. Probably from when the Hawaii Kai first opened. The phone number given on the back of the postcard is the older PL 7-0900 number.

Wish I could have seen this place!
