It's been rough lately trying to balance my two jobs with my hobby- carving tikis. After I pulled another holiday overtime shift at the MugHouse yesterday, I went home and tried to unwind by doing what I love to do in my spare time, which is carving.
All the stresses of the work week to come were put on hold as I worked on the drum a little more:

Now I just have to do the pain in the ass(and hands) part by hollowing it out and separating the legs. Aftre that, I'll be on the home stretch. No pun intended...

The alarm went off way too early this morning and it was back to the reality of summer being over and having to go back to work. It was hot on the jobsite, hotter than I remember, but I gave it my all and finished another project for the big bossman. Sometimes having a day job isn't so bad...Probably because it's a "short" week of work, with the holiday and all, and the night job was cancelled today.
Chair #3 was finished today. This was the biggest log I had for the chairs so far. I wanted to do something different to accentuate its stocky shape. Since it was a big assed log, I made a big assed tiki chair out of it:

A partial rotation shows the posterior coming into view

It's like a skinny tiki had it's ankles and ass explode

You rest your ass on the ass:

Here are the three all lined up:

I was also able to get the back and seat part of chair #4 finished today . That's the sucky part. I should have no problem getting the rest of it done tomorrow.

I think they're cool, as long as they don't have an open container and their dog is leashed, that is...

When will the TO8 Journal resume?

Soon, very soon. I down loaded the next set of pictures a few minutes ago, so less than 24 hours from now...

Until then,
Buzzy Out!
