SuperEight,

ShagMart hasn't released the details regarding the print yet,
and it won't go on sale until November, making it hard to know
either answer to your question because we don't know the edition
size nor the size of the final print, both of which contribute to
a print selling out or not.

If I were to guess, I would imagine it will be
approximately 22" x 29,"
have an edition size of 250,
and sell for $250-295.

Personally, when it comes to Shag's work,
I tend to be a good barometer for what will sell out and what won't,
which I suppose makes me a very generic Shag collector.

When I have thought, "I need to order this right now,"
it was for prints that sold out pretty quickly:
"LA Modern (Night)," "The Extraordinary Evening," and
"Glorious Lifestyle."
I am not having that strong gut feeling about this one,
but this is the most Tiki-centric image released as a print
in a long time, where that really is the theme of the
piece, not sharing it so much with the 60s thing,
so my "order now!" radar may be out of whack.

Then again, I buy to own, not to resell, so I only
care about prints selling out in terms of the urgency
with which I have to buy one to have one to keep,
not for any kind of "investment" situation.
Also, having been a Patrick Nagel art collector,
I know the folly of buying prints because of some external
value inflation and so on and so forth.

Like Nagel, Shag's work could fall out of favor and see the value of
his work drop like the stock market has the last two weeks, though
a Nagel that sold for $1800 in 1984 still sells for $1800 today.

Bottom line: buy it if you like it and can afford it. :)

Back to the topic at hand, ordering from ShagMart
is easy and hassle free. I have never had any issues
with them and owe Piet Agle a debt of gratitude for the
level of customer service they have provided me.

I have at least a couple of weeks to decide, and I suspect
there will be a print released for the Johnathan Levine show
coming up in November as well (I can only afford to buy one Shag
print a month.), but if I get over my reservations about
the color palette, I will probably end up buying it:
I keep smiling, wondering what the explorer in the Pith helmet
did to piss off the rowers, and Sweet Daddy Tiki seems to like it. :)

I have never ordered from Shagmart before. Is this one going to definitely sell out? And how much do you think its going to cost?
