I grew up in Palm Springs where my family used to go to Don the Beachcombers and the to the Luau in L.A. I always had fond memories of that, and I'd pick up tiki mugs in later years when I'd see them at thrift stores. I was a fan of Exotica music (as well as punk rock and garage rock), but I didn't really know of any kind of Tiki community till I moved to San Francisco and started going to Otto's tiki events at the Chameleon. There's a brief cheezy interview with me and my ex roomate Dulcinea in Tiki News #12 about my tiki tattoos. Anyways, my favorite tiki drink are Trader Vic's "Suffering Bastard" and Tiki Ti's "Ray's Mistake". Favorite bands are the Kinks and The Ramones. been lurking on and off here forever.
