They are very reasonably priced and have a warm family style polynesian welcome. I was in Rangiroa last year at the "Chez Glorine" pension and it was really an unforgettable experience, especially the "blue lagoon tour" on the opposite side of the atoll. Awesome. Oh sure, pensions might not be as comfy as in the big hotels, but anyway 4 star hotels are all the same everywere. A few tips, check out this site (in english) , http://www.haere-mai.pf and stay away from Bora Bora, much too over-rated, too expensive, and too many tourists. Bon voyage Vay
