Finally got the wicker shades and had them stained and fire-proofed. Then went to the lowest watt energy bulb I could find. I was going to do a few more things to the lamp, but have decided to leave it like it is. It blends into the environment now and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. Thanks for all the suggestions. Excuse my bare walls, lounge is still under construction.
