Cammo, I was clearly talking about this SITE, which is MAINLY about the pop version of Tiki, and not PRIMARILY about authentic Oceanic Art. I am flabbergasted that we now seem to have new traditionalists here who have a problem with that!

What a supreme irony that half a year ago we had another agitated discussion about Tiki Revival Style here, where my conviction that, for it to stay true Tiki style, it should remain true to its Oceanic origins, was labeled as "limiting" and "traditionalist", and now I am being lectured about it as if being ignorant of it.

The artistic traditions of original Oceanic cultures are vast and varied in their artistic genius, and the works of mid-century Tiki carvers that used them as inspirations are incredibly creative and funny. Without any real connection to either, any piece of art, no matter how talented in its execution, could be termed fantasy tribal/folk/world art --but not Tiki."

I am SO glad that we are being enlightened as to where Bob and Leroy got their inspirations from, I had no idea! As a matter of fact, I should talk to those guys sometime, I bet they have lots of info to share!

...and thank you KuKu, for that intelligent, productive and insightful post, too. :)
