I found the areas that were sagging improved greatly by what you suggested. I fed some cross sections of bamboo through the middle and this alleviated quite a bit of the sagging. I tried not to damage the tapa in any way. Even though you are saying you can find it for $1.00 per square ft, it seemed like such a nice piece I am trying to keep it it's original condition (and I didn't pay nearly that much for it). Gluing it to the ceiling was not an option for me at this time either for both aesthetic and the reason posted above. It sure makes a huge difference to the ambiance of the room and the general mood!
