Both of the gentlemen that are defending the Vegas Vic's have their points, and I, never having been IN the finished place, can accept that. As I always say, I like a GOOD, INTELLIGENT argument. I agree with the statement that Tiki is not a dead art form, how else could I swoon over Oxford's "Kukui"?

But it again comes down to perspective: Being an urban archeologist, the Tiki style that primarily interests me is the ART FORM, a stylistically unique period of mid-century DESIGN, ART and ARCHITECTURE -unique in concept and "kitsch" value. To me, this is where the Vegas Vic's failed: Shunning it's tradition, and not original enough in it's innovation.

Others see Tiki more as a life style package, where food and drink and service matter. That's secondary to me, just doesn't faze me as much (x-ept for the drink part :D ).

Now is this the longest running thread ever, or what !? :)
