No. My upbringing can best be described as "humble." I was too poor for a camera, film, or developing. For some reason though, my family had a xerox machine, which I used to make my own underground zines as well as copying that book for my room decor with. I also had a DIY label called "Ape Records" back then. I think we put out about 12 albums, well, more like dubbed cassettes with xeroxed covers. I also had a music/humor zine called "Ape Takes" that was part of my music and publishing empire In the early 90's, I revived Ape Records and started putting out stuff again. This time, I had a friend who had a magical new thing called a "CD writer." It cost $2000 and blank cd's were $10 each at the time. We were overjoyed when they dropped down to only $5 a piece! Each CD only took 40 minutes to write. Oh, the good old days!
And just to keep this thread on topic: Here's a picture taken by my friend Dennis of my other friend KR trying to steal the microphone from D. H. Peligro at a DK show in Tijuana in '84: Buzzy Out! |
