I was actually wondering when Tiki Ti was going to LOWER their prices given this recession. I thought the five dollar Rays Mistakes on wednesday was a precursor to potentially an overall decrease. I do agree with the fact that most drinks in LA hover around 10-15 dollars, and the Tiki-Ti's usually contain two ounces or more (usually more) of 80 proof spirits per drink, and of course they're the best tropicals, if not best of everything, in the LA basin. That being said, I always felt their high prices reflected the good Hollywood money floating around most of the decade. Now that the good money is gone, I expected they would compensate by cutting us a break. IMO the price increase is an insult. Those guys run an all cash business, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they make at lease five hundred a day or more on average, four days a week. C'mon. And don't flame me on the in's and outs of taxes and overhead, I know they work hard and deserve the best revenue they can generate, but to increase prices right now is a big fuck you from the Buhens.

If the place is as packed as it can be all the time, there's no downside for the owners to raising prices until there's no line outside and an empty spot to stand inside. Supply and demand, baby.
