T tikiauction Member USA Joined: Sep 04, 2008 Posts: 108	T tikiauction Posted posted on Sun, Mar 29, 2009 12:19 PM the new yorker has had some nice articles on antiquities repatriation (mainly greek and roman) over the last several years; and the consensus does seem to be that all the classical antiquities will eventually be returned to the country of origin, in exchange for some pieces to be on long-term semi-permanent loan to the museums in the west. i don't doubt that the island nation of yap can try to take that tack, but their negotiating/political clout is going to be much less than say the nation of greece or italy for the reasons mentioned. in any case, the return for loan approach does seem to be the new compromise that is taking shape.
