All I know is after three years I am still learning and don't mind if I get corrected once in a while. You can have fun with people being serious, if you don't take it personally...but don't ever post any pictures of white walls or ceilings!

PTD

The question is ...do you still own that set of AMAZING tiki/party city string lights?????

Because if you somehow misplaced them I would be more than happy to get some for ya at Big Lots!

In my opinion-
There are a lot of items I collect that add to my ever growing tiki collection that I do not post here mainly because I know either everyone has seen them or they do not really have a tiki basis. I really love Hawaiiana-all those knick knacks with "Hawaii" spelled out on them are something I always pick up when I am out thrifting. I think perhaps its because I have never actually been to Hawaii but regardless I know most people on here don't care to see my large collection of Hawaii souvenirs (like S&Ps or hula girls) However I know everyone would love to see my latest rare mug find. Its just a matter of posting for a purpose rather than just to post.

KK I think the one thing you will find with these folks is that they are all good, fun people who feel very passionately about TC and Tiki as they know it. You are not the 1st person to feel like you do...but I really think its because you are new to the site and have just started to catch on to the way the postings go on here.

For example you came on board with a Jimmy Buffet inspired name and had Hanford change it to KK. That right there is a sign that you want to learn and be part of a different sort of tiki then you are familiar with.

We all went wild over your soon to be tiki room. That right there shows that you have something that we all enjoy and want to continue to be a part of and check out.

No one on here is an elitist. Really.

As someone who lurked for years before posting and began slowly to do so my advice is to use the "Search" function to find threads that are along the same lines as to what you want to post so you are able to post in the ideal forum. A forum this big needs some sort of organization or its no good to anyone. Getting excited over something cool you found on CL is something to stick in the Bilge section because , well, its not tiki.

Beyond Tiki FInds is my favorite thread because thats where we can all post the crap we are excited about that aint tiki per say but will prollie evoke the same "That's Cool!" feelings in other people.

Just dont feel discouraged. It really is nothing personal and if you ever get a chance to meet any TC Ohana in person you will realize that upon the first shared mai tai!
