That is a cheapo-but-cool plaster item offered in the 60s by Paul Marshall Products in L.A. and Johnson Products in Chicago:

They were pretty common in L.A. until the late 90s, when Tiki collecting became a wider sport. Oceanic Arts did a nice lamp based on it a couple of years ago, I got one:
It was also used as a cheap prop on Gilligan's Island, as mentioned here: Could someone post a frame capture from that episode here? :) |
