Our palapa bar and patio cover are looking grey and worn.

Usually, we make a run to Oceanic Arts and pick up a bale of new thatch (Mexican Cape, really). But we're wondering if there's something we can do to refresh it all?

Can I spray it off with a deck cleaner, weak bleach solution, vinager....?? I want to get rid of the grey and I think it may just be needing a brightner of some sort.

After cleaning, can I use Thompsons water sealer or something like that sprayed onto it? I usually use Thompsons with the yellow tint on all my bamboo furniture each Spring. I'm thinking that would brighten up the thatch, but will it work?

Any one ever try to freshen up the thatch? I'm thinking of going at it like I do when cleaning a deck, but gentler.

Advice, feedback, instructions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
