In my obsessive pursuit to learn all I can about animation I've been watching a lot of vintage animation on my ipod and didn't realize how pervasive island themes were in early animation so, I thought I'd share some that have a nautical or tropical theme. I decided to include a few newer examples, from the 70's and on as well. If I missed any, please add on! Some are okay, others are better, but after looking for a list somewhere, I decided I should do it. Betty Boop "Bamboo Isle" Betty Boop S.O.S. Swim Or Sink 1932 3 stooges. It starts off live action, then goes to a simple style animation: Superman "Volcano" The Beatles Cartoon "And Your Bird Can Sing" Plastic Man "Tropical Trouble" Scooby Doo (1975): Garfield in Paradise 1986 Okay, not totally vintage, but I do remember watching this when I was 7 years old and thinking I wanted to go to Hawaii: Donald Duck, "Bird Brained Donald (2000) Riki Tiki Tavi Russia: |
