Never opened it, I don't like white rum. I'm afraid to, it looks rather cheap. Jeff Berry gave me the bottle, clearly for the label, and if I remember correctly, he bought it not too long ago (as in the last ten years) in a liquor store here in town.

Michael Hall and Brad Smith, the carvers of the Tiki, are originally from La Canada/Pasadena, right next to La Crescenta, and met in '56. Michael signed Tipsy's photo with 1958, but his bio I have states that that's the year when the two parted ways to go to different colleges. The rendering is dated '57, so that would make it the original -IF the photo is indeed from '58!

And no clue how it made it on that label of such an obscure rum, maybe the menu designer got the job to design a rum label.

That sloping roof hut in the palm grove really reminds me of Frances Langford's Outrigger on Jensen Beach though...DC, don't you have a postcard of that?
