I've found that painting tropical flowers are like miniature vacations in velvet painting.

Like most of us I'm a real sucker for hisbiscuses (is that right?).

The yellow one I did earlier this year is one of my faves to do, but I couldn't find another to get a pic of, so I used the same photo but changed the color.

Here's the original pic I used, shot in Ft. Lauderdale.

This one'll use a new, expensive cadmium paint I bought.

The cadmium red paint I use maintains it's bright color when dry but is going to take a lot of coats to bring the brightness up.

Everything is looking fine, but I'm going to use a loose, risky, improve style on the background to make this one look as different as possible.
