That mug was actually a candle holder (possibly citronella) that Big Lots sold a few years back.
They came out in at least 5 different colors (Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Red) and was distributed by Midwest Home Products, Inc. (Item #DCC9035). The candles were colored to match the "mug". I never removed the candles from mine, I think mainly because of the shallowness of the mug (the bottom is concave and peaks around the line where the upper lip is) and that I could use some candles to help set the mood (or use when a storm knocks the power out).
