Spam on TC - General Tiki

It's not to get their post count up. It's to get their sig line shown - which is a set of links to whatever they're spam-selling (DVDs, lately). Instead of creating a whole new thread, which can be quickly identified as spam and deleted, they sprinkle their little "I-like-it-so-much"-posts (with spam links in the sig) among legitimate, interesting threads. For example, check all the posts of "ecompany8". If a user is banned, I assume their signature, including any links, disappears, even if their posts don't. Is that true?
