Actually I meant, "having resemblance in some particulars between things otherwise unlike," thus analogous. I avoided saying he was "like" Korla Pandit for the very reason you allude to. I'm with you: the blemishes on his personal story make me not want to celebrate him in any way whatsoever. But the fact that there was a market for his "exotic" flim-flammery, and his creativity in serving that market, are interesting in my opinion.
