This takes place at one of my FAVOURITE LA buildings, the 1927 built MAYAN THEATER. I used to take foreign visitors to see it when it was used as a porn theater in the 80s. It is spectacular. Have not been in it for a while, hope the years of night clubbing have not ruined it.
The Mayan Revival style of the 1920s can easily be seen as predecessor to Tiki style, and architect/archeologist Robert B. Stacy-Judd is one of my idols (he did not design the Mayan, but other cool examples in LA)
