Hi all, I'm new here and had a few questions about a drink from the Hawaii Tropical Rum Drinks & Cuisine book with the Don the Beachcomber recipes.

Ok, this drink has been interesting me lately because of how long it takes to build. I didn't find it in the search page, but I know someone around here has to have tried it. I had a few questions about the recipe for those of you who've tried this one out:

How hot should the water be for the initial soak of the fruit?

How many vanilla beans go in the soak with the fruit?

When you boil the 3 vanilla beans later, those are 3 new vanilla beans right? Not the beans you already soaked and cut earlier right?

How long is this coffee / rum mixture good for after you mix the two together? I'm guessing it should be refrigerated?

Sorry for all the questions, but with the more complex recipe, the book isn't very thorough in its steps here.
