I love that surrealist map of the world, or: "Le monde au temps des surrealistes" I was going to post about it 3 days ago...
From the book "Art of the Pacific" by Anne D' Alleva :
"The surrealists felt a deep affinity with Pacific art, which they tought was inspired by spirits and dreams just as their own work was. ...Easter Island, the Bismarck Archipielago, and New Guinea loom large. They dwarf the apparently more rational and thus less interesting areas of the world, such as Europe and the United States, wich has entirely disappeared."

Those crazy artists...
